Dr. Omékongo writes and performs in English, French, and Swahili. His Urban Music Award-winning work has best been described by Nikki Giovanni as “outstanding, exciting, and new while being very old.” His book, From the Limbs of My Poetree was described by Essence Magazine as “a remarkable and insightful collection of exquisite poetry that touches sacred places within your spirit.” He has shared his work across the globe in nearly 30 countries on three continents. Omekongo loves writing songs for organizations! He has written hip-hop songs and poems for organizations such as NASA, The Enough! Project, Jewish World Watch, and more. He has also written songs for movies such as “It’s a Girl” and wrote the lead music track for the album “Raise Hope for Congo” which featured distinguished artists such as Sheryl Crow, Nora Jones, Angelique Kidjo, Damien Rice, and Yassine Bey (Mos Def). his poetry was also featured in Don Cheadle’s book The Enough Moment, alongside Angelina Jolie and Mariska Hargitay.
